DSI's dedicated systems are co-located in a professionally managed, tier 1 data center providing a zero maintenance environment for our clients. The data center provides a better way to achieve high quality server management, data storage, backups, network access, security, and reliability. The DSI servers are configured with redundant power supplies, the latest in firewall security, hot swappable disks, and dual DS3 Internet connections to ensure uninterrupted access. High speed servers support large scale data collection all over the world.
DSI’s production servers are co-located and professionally managed at a Tier 1 Data Center. Physical site security includes the following combination of people, process and technology to protect the hosting environment against unauthorized physical access. DSI owns multiple servers and the equipment is secured in a locked DSI only cage. Over the past five years Data Solutions has experienced greater than 99.99% up time.
Below is a partial list of these security measures:
Building Access
- Gated perimeter with eight foot barbed wire fences.
- 24x7 Video surveillance with interior & exterior pan, tilt & zoom cameras; 30-day video retention
- 24x7 monitoring & checkpoints
- 5 levels of security to pass before accessing server area; enforced 24x7
- ID Card security system for entry into hosting facility
- Secure client management consoles
- DSI owned equipment in its own locked cage
- Hosting facility has 6 additional hot sites for redundancy
Proactive Monitoring by Trained Personnel
- 24 x 7 Security Guards
- Automatic NOC and police notification upon breach
- Guest sign-in, with pre-approval and picture ID required
- Escorted access to co-location space for non-hosting center employees
- Managed Server customers use on-site remote Keyboard, Video, and Mouse (KVM) terminals to control their servers. Only designated employees and escorted vendors that have been granted security access are allowed to physically access the servers
- 24x7 monitoring of weather, news & events
Redundant Environmental Controls
A critical component of ensuring availability of the solution is a robust system of environmental controls to protect against loss of power, fire, or other environmentally damaging conditions. The following list provides a summary of the hosting facility’s protection against these elements:
Fire Suppression
- FM200 fire suppression
- Fire detection sensors placed above and below raised floor.
- FM200 gas is automatically released when fire is detected, eliminating possibility of water damage with sprinkler systems.
- Highly targeted dry pipe sprinkler system backup
- 100+ smoke & heat detectors
- Molecular air-testing system for early detection
Cooling
- Fully redundant Liebert cooling system, with redundant glycol loops, pumps and rooftop chillers.
- 120 tons cooling capacity, expandable to 160 tons.
Power
- Dual uninterruptible power supplies
- Dual 1250 KVA diesel generators and 72 hours of fuel in the tanks, which can be re-fueled while operating
- Dual server power connections on separate paths
- Dual-fed Power Distribution Units with primary & secondary fail-over
- Redundant capacity per server. Each managed server enclosure is equipped with two 20A circuits from each PDU/UPS
- Located on primary power grid with MAPP, the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool, responsible for reliability of power for Midwestern power utilities.
